LENTEN DAY OF REFLECTION

Prayer: The Key to Hearing God's Voice
Reflection -- Contemplation -- Discernment

Saturday, February 17, 8:00 am to 2:30 pm

"Until you are convinced that prayer is the best use of your time,
you will not find time for prayer."

Our own Deacon Greg Bartos will share with us some less familiar forms of Catholic prayer with the intention of having prayer become an indispensable daily habit that helps us better live authentic Christian lives and discover the God who lives within.

The day will begin with 8:00 am Mass
followed by a continental breakfast. Lunch will be served.
Reconciliation will be offered to participants in the afternoon.

A free-will offering will be taken to cover breakfast, lunch and the cost of the speaker. Please call the rectory at (708) 532-2243 to register so we can plan accordingly

NEW BOOK DISCUSSION
March 2, 2018

"The Things They Carried"
By Tim O'Brien
Discussion Friday, March 2, 2018
Rectory Meeting Room
Books available at the Rectory for $9

Twenty years ago, Tim O'Brien's "The Things They Carried" commanded attention, seizing readers by the throat. While the interrelated stories of the men of Alpha Company are set in the Vietnam War, the book resonates with the wars, conflicts and conflagrations since it was published. These men carry such things as malaria pills, love letters, matches and mine detectors. But, they also carry one another, in a way that one imagines happening in Afghanistan, Iraq and every other embattled place in the world. The book is fiercely anti-war, and as important, it is a testament to the power of story, of how memory loops and twists in the service of truth and courage.

Catholic Women Sharing Faith

Meet with other women to discuss spiritual readings, church documents and Scripture on Thursday mornings at 9:30 AM.

MEN'S SPIRITUALITY--THAT MAN IS YOU

Men get together weekly on Saturday mornings to share faith
and ideas on topics that they are interested in pursuing.

After an extended "summer break" that began shortly after Easter, we are about to launch a brand new semester of TMIY. The title for this fall's program is "The Revelation of the Father", and will focus on how we, as Catholic men, can improve relationships within our families while strengthening our faith and spiritual lives.

During the next thirteen weeks we will discover:

* The true dignity of the heart of a father.
* The four types of formation necessary for fathers to properly nurture their children and families.
* The parenting methods inspired by the saints and proven effective with the most difficult children.
* The challenges confronting men in their fatherhood and the means to overcome them.

ATTENTION: ALL WIVES, SISTERS, MOTHERS, DAUGHTERS AND WOMEN WHO CARE: Now is the time to reach out to the men who are important to you and your family. Encourage them to join us on this journey. They won't regret it!

That Man is You! meets on Saturday mornings at 6:30 am for breakfast in O'Connell Hall at St. George School. All adult men, 18 and older, are invited to join us. To learn more about this program, please contact Don Budny at (708) 429-1823; dbudny3@aol.com or Gary Hendzell at (708) 614-1734; ghendzell@msn.com.
