Each week we will watch a video and have a group discussion while enjoying a light supper of soup and bread. If you have any questions or would like to share your favorite soup, contact Maria Kavanaugh at (815) 280-3909.

THE SEVEN STOREY MOUNTIAN
By Thomas Merton

Book Discussion----March 29, 2019
7:00 PM
Used books at the Rectory Office for $4.
All are welcome--invite a friend!

A modern-day Confessions of Saint Augustine, The Seven Storey Mountain is one of the most influential religious works of the twentieth century. It tells of the growing restlessness of a brilliant and passionate young man whose search for peace and faith leads him, at the age of twenty-six, to take vows in one of the most demanding Catholic orders - the Trappist Monks. At the Abbey of Gethsemani, "the four walls of my new freedom," Thomas Merton struggles to withdraw from the world, but only after he has fully immersed himself in it. The Seven Storey Mountain has been a favorite of readers ranging from Graham Greene to Claire Booth Luce, Eldridge Cleaver and Frank McCourt. Since its original publication this timeless spiritual tome has been published in over twenty languages and has touched millions of lives.

Catholic Women Sharing Faith

A ministry of prayer, communications and education which meets with women to discuss spiritual readings, church documents and Scripture on Thursday mornings at 9:30 AM. This includes a Prayer Shawl Ministry in which shawls are knitted and crocheted for those in need of a "hug from God".

We welcome new faces that want to crochet or knit shawls and share in prayers.

MEN'S SPIRITUALITY--THAT MAN IS YOU

Men get together weekly on Saturday mornings to share faith
and ideas on topics that they are interested in pursuing.

After an extended "summer break" that began shortly after Easter, we are about to launch a brand new semester of TMIY. The title for this fall's program is "The Revelation of the Father", and will focus on how we, as Catholic men, can improve relationships within our families while strengthening our faith and spiritual lives.

During the next thirteen weeks we will discover:

* The true dignity of the heart of a father.
* The four types of formation necessary for fathers to properly nurture their children and families.
* The parenting methods inspired by the saints and proven effective with the most difficult children.
* The challenges confronting men in their fatherhood and the means to overcome them.

ATTENTION: ALL WIVES, SISTERS, MOTHERS, DAUGHTERS AND WOMEN WHO CARE: Now is the time to reach out to the men who are important to you and your family. Encourage them to join us on this journey. They won't regret it!

That Man is You! meets on Saturday mornings at 6:30 am for breakfast in O'Connell Hall at St. George School. All adult men, 18 and older, are invited to join us. To learn more about this program, please contact Don Budny at (708) 429-1823; dbudny3@aol.com or Gary Hendzell at (708) 614-1734; ghendzell@msn.com.
